One fun weekend..

So a couple of weekend ago these things happened.  And they were fun.  And my heart was happy.

Mady has soccer practice every Thursday evening at this park, and it quickly became a family favorite. We took a picnic dinner there Friday night and watched the kids play and had a friendly game of family soccer..these are the moments that make me the happiest..

See Jack in the bottom picture in between York's legs?

Then we started our Saturday with more soccer action..she scored a goal this game:)
The best cheer-ers ever.

And then we headed straight up to the U for some family tailgating fun..

York was a few minutes ahead of us setting up and as I was walking through the tailgate lot like this..
some guys said "look a kid vendor -- how much?"  Ha!

And to round out the weekend Mady and I hit up Lagoon with our friends Jen and Bryce.  Bryce is a bit taller than Mady, tall enough to ride ALL the rides at Lagoon..they brought Mady some super tall soled flip flops to borrow and guess what?  Made her just tall enough for all the roller coasters.  It was so fun..she loved every single ride, I couldn't believe she wasn't scared a bit.  After every ride she said "Now that's my favorite one!"

Jonah 2 months old...

I can't believe this baby is already 2 months old!  Time seriously needs to stop.  Like now.  I LOVE this little guy SO much, and saying that Jonah is the best baby ever is an understatement.  He never makes a peep, sleeps all the time, goes everywhere with me and is just as content as can be.  Thank you, God.  Seriously, they say He doesn't give you more than you can handle and clearly I couldn't handle a needy baby.  I could hold him all day long, his sweet face and his little coos just make my heart melt.

I am soooo thankful that he's a paci baby after my last two weren't.  He takes a bottle fine, so I just need to make sure I keep up with that.  He loves to be outside, in his stroller, or in a front pack.  I really don't want him to get any bigger.  All of my babies chub out really quickly but for some reason I was in denial that Jonah would.  I cried the day his 0-3 onesies were a little too tight and was reality set in when he weighed 11 lbs. 14 oz. at his 2 month check-up.  I think he may be a serious one like Mady, his face is so sweet but he rarely smiles...nothing like how Sophie and Jack did.

I have honestly enjoyed every single moment of this baby - changing his diaper, feeding him, late night snuggles - I love every moment that I HAVE to devote to him, because they are way less than what I WANT to.  I hope being the 4th child he always feels just as important as the first....or second or third.

Here are some pictures of sweet Jonah all taken in the past week!

This is Jack's new "CHEESE" face...lol

Getting back to "normal"...

I don't think normal will ever be the right word to explain things around our home anymore.  It's just a fact that things have become crazier and less "structured" then I've been able to keep them before.  I'm trying to adapt, as I like thinks in order, and predictable, but I think I'm finally accepting that flexibility, change, and surprises are my new way of life, and maybe even good for me...to a point:).  The process of "letting things go" began with the second child and I definitely think that has increased more and more since Jonah has arrived.  Example:: I let the girls pick out their own clothes and sometimes they leave the house without their hair brushed, OR not cleaning my house from top to bottom if we're having visitors the next day...a more "lived in" home is more acceptable now than ever before!

The past two months has been a little overwhelming for me with the addition of our sweet Jonah.  Especially since school has started we have all struggled adjusting to our new routine a bit.  The best way to describe it is that our house is a zoo most of the time...it seems as if there is always someone crying, whining, needing something RIGHT THAT SECOND!, hungry, thirsty, getting a boo-boo, etc. etc. and there is rarely a quiet moment.  Even my champion sleeper Sophie is coming downstairs 1, 2 or 5 times to ask if naptime is over yet which means I'm not always getting my "predictable" 2 hours of quiet time to myself to recharge (and get my chores done) during the day (not to mention I haven't had a solid nights sleep in who knows how long).

But although craziness has been brought to a new level at home, we wouldn't have it any other way.  I am so blessed to be a stay home mom to our 4 beautiful, active, healthy kiddos, and as weird as it may sound, a houseful of chaos truly is my happy place!

So...here is what we're up to lately..
Mady started soccer again for the fall season but she is on a new team with her old dance friends.  We are now spending Saturday mornings cheering on the Pink Wildflowers!

Oakridge usually closes for the season Labor Day Weekend, but is staying open a couple extra weeks thanks to the warm weather we've been having.  Our visits there have been few and far between since having Jonah, but I still like to go whenever we can.  Here is sweet Jonah soaking up some sun!

My cute Sophie girl's dream has come true...she is finally taking dance class.  Her first class was last Wednesday and she had so much fun.  She is also doing tumbling right before dance and loving it too.  I'm so happy for her that she gets to do her own activity, she's definitely put in her time watching Mady,  and we're excited that it's her time to shine!

Jack Jack Jack.  He is such a funny kid.  I can't believe he will be 2 in just a couple months.  He has finally started saying new words (although most are hard to understand, at least he's trying) and we're hoping that means his screaming days are coming to an end.  Since he doesn't really talk, he screams about everything -- whether he's happy or sad, it's just his way of communicating..pointing and screaming.  Needless to say we're looking forward to the day that he talks!

Jack loves books and I love these pics of him in his nightly routine, reading with mom or dad.  "More more more" after every book we read before bed, he can never get enough.  The toys in his bed are increasing too, but he's so cute how he will cuddle his Woody doll, Micky Mouse stuffed animal, or whatever his toy of choice is for the evening.  He still goes to bed pretty easy and is a good sleeper.  We all joke that he's our little linebacker because he's such a big dude, he and Sophie can wear the same size shoe!  He can throw a good fit and is kind of a bully lately...pulling his sisters hair, hitting, biting (mostly older kids), but is SO sweet and gentle with Jonah, or any baby for that matter.  He's a handful but we could not love him more!

With Mady at school all day its just me and these 3 little munchkins..

York got home from work one night as we were on our way out to soccer practice...I decided to leave Jonah home with him and a bottle since I want him to get used to taking one.  I ran back in to grab Mady's water bottle and this is what I saw...York eating dinner with the baby chilling on the counter top.  I was dying laughing, I don't why I thought this was so funny but I ran and grabbed my phone and took this pic..

And this was at soccer practice that night...they have a fun park for the other kids to play at while the girls practice, and our babysitter Lindsay was there with another one of the families she tends for..I have Lindsay every Thursday for a few hours...I love her so!

And finally...York and I finally got out together (with our little sidekick baby J).  It's been so long since I've had a sitter and gone out on a date night, we definitely need to do this more often!

Are you ready for some football..

Well, York's favorite time of year has arrived...Utah football season.  We are looking forward to Saturday tailgates with friends and family but first I wanted to post a few pics from last season that I never got around to putting up...look how little Jack was, such a cutie!

Don't worry friends...I'm still a TIGER at heart!

And this year, the first game was on a Thursday...York took the afternoon off and since it was my regular babysitter day, Jonah and I headed up to the U for the afternoon.  I came home that night before the game and assumed my "motherly duties" and took the kids to Mady's soccer practice, but it was sure fun having the afternoon off!

Jonah is quickly catching up in size to his cousin Lucy, and York is sure proud of his baby boy in red!

Jonah, clearly impressed with his first tailgate experience!

Mady starts Kindergarten!

I can't believe my little girl has started Kindergarten!  She was sooo excited to get back to school and be with her little friends again.  I was not so excited to start setting the alarm again but its always good to back into a routine.  I really didn't have a hard time sending her off this year...I think because she was already comfortable with the school and her friends, and I knew she would love going full day.  She gets to wear a uniform this year which I love.  She loves taking her lunch to school and when I pick her up 3 she begs to go to EDP (extended day program)...the girl can't get enough!  Sophie was so excited to go with us the morning of her first day, such a supportive little sister!  She's been doing great and has gotten green (on her behavior chart) everyday!  I went to back to school night to meet her teacher a fews days before classes started and she got to go the night before and meet her teacher, a few new classmates, and decorate her bag that she'll use for the year.  So far this school year has been great, we're so thankful that she loves to learn...makes it easy for us!

I packed her lunch everyday for the first 2 weeks, and then starting in September I signed her up for a couple 'hot lunches' (about once a week).  She was not happy about that at first...my picky eater likes her regular:: PB&J, oatmeal, fruit, cheese/yogurt, and treat (she's a big lunch eater...plus they have snack in the morning and there's usually at least one thing leftover when she brings it home).  But, honestly, I did it to save me time.  York can usually take her one morning a week but the other days I have to get everyone up - which means getting her up and ready for school, and since her and Sophie share a room now she's up too and HAS to get dressed immediately upon waking, feed those two breakfast, wake up, nurse and change the baby, get Jack up, and get everyone loaded in the car by 7:30.  Sometimes I'm spent by the time we get home at 8:15...but Jack hasn't even had breakfast yet:)

There are a few new boys this year and only one new girl in her class bringing the total to 3 girls, and 12 all together.  She has already had a couple playdates with her new friend Brelyn, so I guess it quality over quantity right?!

Mady was SO excited about her first homework assignment::  bringing home Popcorn the bear...he had to do everything with her then we had to write it down, take pictures, and send him back after the weekend.  He will go home with everyone twice throughout the year but she got to be first... "Ms. Grafton did backwards alphabet!" (apparently having a "Y" last name was of great benefit this time!)  So not only was she excited to be the first but she was actually the one to name him...they all threw out suggestions and..."it was between Popcorn and Monster Truck (lol) and 8 people raised their hands for Popcorn so mine won" was her quote when explaining it to York and I.  (Proud parent moment;)
So here are a few pics of Mady and Popcorn...

She has a regular packet of homework that comes home Monday and is due Friday, has PE twice a week, Music once week, Spanish and computers once a week, goes to their library once a week where she can check out her own book and return it the following week, and church on Fridays.  We have just loved St. Olaf's so far and even though I'm envious of the bus-goes everyday when I drive nearly 20 to and from her school twice a day, we wouldn't have it any other way!

We are SO proud of you Miss Mady and looking forward to an awesome year of Kindergarten!  xoxo
